DIGIGREEN

Improved workforce to set transition from manufacturing to digital green fabrication

About the project

The DIGIGREEN project is expected to have a significant impact at local, national and European level, mainly because it will address a continuous need of both the manufacturing workforce and the European market for updated competences related to “new” and “advanced” processes. Indeed, access to technical and management content in manufacturing is crucial to ensure that companies across Europe have the appropriate tools to face and meet the challenges they face, thus contributing to the European global strategy of having industry represent 20% of EU GDP by 2020. The project becomes even more relevant as it ensures that skills development takes place at European level, with a transnational scope, and is then transferred to the national level through the creation of a European e-learning platform for micro-learning and webinars, aimed at both white and blue-collar workers in manufacturing, and covering technical and management content with EVCET points allocated. It is worth noting that, having identified the above needs, it was decided to create a multinational e-learning platform that would support the development of content in 4 languages: English, Portuguese, Romanian and Slovenian, so that it can be widely used by different countries. The overall results of the project are expected to contribute to the European Union’s objective of revitalising the manufacturing industry, as well as to the Erasmus+ programme’s objectives of promoting transparency, lifelong learning, improving digital integration in e-learning and open access to educational resources through the exchange of best practices.

Objectives

Establish a strong support for the industrial sectors in the long process of transition from traditional manufacturing to digital and green manufacturing of their production systems.
To set up an innovative training system capable of providing at the same time: digital literacy, competences for the transition to digital manufacturing and competences for the transition to low-carbon printing and eco-labelling.
Provide a strong response to the European effort in the development of digital education to improve the actual learning conditions (need for short-term training) by promoting the improvement of digital integration in e-learning and open access to educational resources through the exchange of best practices.
Design, develop and implement a European virtual learning platform for the manufacturing sector, aimed at “new” and “advanced” contents, integrated in a greater variety of innovative learning practices; a strong digital teaching and learning tool, in cooperation with newly designed methodologies, to implement a mix of micro-courses and webinars way of learning.
Enabling ICT to make VET more flexible and to support a strategic use and access to educational resources at different levels, which means promoting new digital learning opportunities in an accessible, innovative and flexible way – Improving a high level of digital and transversal skills development for teachers (“white” trainees) and trainees, employed or not (“blue” trainees), in a lifelong perspective.
By addressing the 7Ps (the most common production processes), DIGIGREEN strengthens its commitment to all relevant industrial sectors.
Ensures high transparency of competences for the manufacturing sector by describing learning outcomes for each microlearning and webinar activity.
Involves different stakeholders in the design and delivery of learning practices, making e-learning more responsive to new challenges in the sector;
Strengthens the technical and collaborative capacity of the partners to deliver online training modules and to work in a transnational team, thus sharing best practices.
